America’s Great Loop · spring 2027 departures

You want a boat that can actually go the distance. Three are in the water now.

Buy one of them to cruise the Great Loop and Delphia covers the diesel for the whole circuit.* We are also looking for one owner, man or woman, to document the voyage as the Delphia Loop Ambassador.

Why range is the spec that matters now

Diesel has gone from $3.58 to $6.20 a gallon. That changes which boat you should buy.

At $6.20 a gallon, the number that used to be a footnote on the spec sheet is now the biggest line in your cruising budget. Over 6,000 miles, liters per hour compounds into thousands of dollars, and into how often you have to stop. Put your own boat’s figures in.

About 6,000 miles at displacement speed. Crews who linger run more.

US average retail diesel price, published weekly by the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA): $3.58 the week of April 14, 2025, and $6.20 the week of October 5, 2026. Marina prices often run higher.

Set this to whatever you burn at cruise today.

A Delphia 11 · 2.5 L/h$0

Your current boat$0

The Delphia figure is the manufacturer’s published consumption for the 11 (2.5 L/h, 0.66 gal/h; the 12 is 3 L/h, 0.8 gal/h). The comparison figure is whatever you set, and is illustrative. Real consumption depends on speed, load, current and how much of the year you spend pushing up the Mississippi. But the ratio is the point, and the ratio does not change.

The route

Fifteen states, one Canadian province, and a boat that has to live it for a year.

The Atlantic coast, the Erie Canal, the Great Lakes, the inland rivers and the Gulf, linked into one continuous circuit. Locks, fixed bridges, shoaling, and long stretches with nowhere to take on fuel. Select a waypoint to see the leg.

The offer

Buy one of these four for the Loop, and the diesel is on us.

Two things are on the table. Anyone who buys one of these boats to cruise the Loop gets the first. One owner also gets the second.

Every Loop buyer

We cover your diesel.

  • The running cost of the voyage covered.* The diesel that carries you around the circuit, settled against receipts as you go.
  • A boat that is already here. No build slot, no eighteen-month wait. You leave in spring 2027 because the hull is in the water today.
  • Dealer support on the route, through Galati on the Gulf side and our Pacific Northwest dealer.
  • Commissioning and route help: air draft, tankage, spares, and the shakedown before you go.

* What “covered” covers. Delphia covers the cost of the diesel fuel you use along the route, settled against receipts as you go, up to a ceiling set out in the program agreement. Insurance, dockage, provisioning and maintenance stay with the owner.

One owner

We are looking for an Ambassador.

  • A production kit: camera, gimbal, wireless and shotgun mics, mounts, cards and a dry case. Yours for the whole voyage.
  • The title and the credit. Named as the Delphia Loop Ambassador wherever the work appears, on your own channels first.
  • In exchange: commercial rights to the photography and video from the voyage, a monthly delivery to an agreed minimum, and the odd appearance at a rendezvous or boat show.
  • Honesty, including the bad days. Loopers spot a sanitized account from a mile off. We would rather have the real one.

You do not have to want this to buy the boat. Tick the box on the form if it interests you, and we will talk it through separately.

Available now

Four boats, three regions. Stand on one this month, or reserve the Montréal boat before it lands.

These are the exact hulls in the program. When they are gone, it closes. After that, it is a build slot and a 2028 departure.

The practical questions

What people ask before they book.

What does “we cover your diesel” actually mean?

Delphia covers the cost of the diesel fuel you use along the route, settled against receipts as you go, up to a ceiling set out in the program agreement. On the published consumption of an 11, a full Loop sits comfortably inside it. That is rather the point: the boat is frugal enough that paying for a whole Loop of fuel is a sensible thing for a builder to do. Insurance, dockage, provisioning and maintenance stay with you.

Will these boats actually fit the Loop?

Yes. That is what the range was designed around. Shallow draft for the shoaling on the Atlantic ICW, low air draft for the fixed bridges on the Illinois, and a beam that goes through the Trent–Severn and Erie locks without drama. Air draft and draft for your specific hull and options are confirmed in writing before you commit.

I am cross-shopping a Ranger Tug and a Swift Trawler. Why this?

Those are good boats and we would rather you compared properly. Take the three numbers that decide a year afloat: liters per hour, tankage, and air draft. Then multiply the first by 850 hours and today’s diesel price. The calculator above does it with your own figures, with no adjustment in our favor.

Can I see one without committing to anything?

That is the whole idea. An hour on the boat, no presentation, no follow-up sequence. Bring your partner, bring a surveyor, bring the friend who will talk you out of it.

I am in the Pacific Northwest but want to do the Loop. Does that work?

It does, and you would not be the first. Cruise the Columbia River and the San Juan Islands first, then have the boat shipped east to join the Loop. We will lay out both options with real costs so you can choose on the numbers.

Do I have to be the Ambassador?

No. The diesel is covered for anyone who buys one of these four to do the Loop. The Ambassador role is a separate arrangement for one owner who wants to film the year, and it is entirely optional.
